We are an independent, not for profit, company whose aim is to promote and facilitate business, encourage a healthy business environment and improve prosperity in East Renfrewshire. Governance East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce is run entirely by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of local business people. There are currently seven on the Board with a maximum of ten allowed. They meet on a quarterly basis and the AGM is held in August. The membership is open to all persons having an interest in a business in the boundary of the East Renfrewshire Local Authority. Any persons wishing to become a member should register an application along with remittance to the annual membership subscription. Our members are drawn from all corners of East Renfrewshire and beyond: businesses big and small, from the private, public and not for profit sectors, reflecting the diverse nature of business here. We have a high number of micro businesses and home workers in the area, and the membership of our Board reflects this business demographic as far as possible. Realising that we cannot realistically compete in terms of size, we very deliberately offer a range of alternative and complementary services to our members from that of our neighbouring larger Chambers. On behalf of our members we: * Encourage private and social enterprise and advance the interests of commerce in East Renfrewshire. * Provide guidance in all aspects of business affairs in the community. * Promote co-operation with civic authorities such as East Renfrewshire Council. * Provide a forum for the exchange of information of mutual interest.
